How is asthma diagnosed?

There is no single test to diagnose asthma. Your doctor will usually undertake a number of breathing and allergy tests to confirm a diagnosis. Sometimes, you may even need to be prescribed treatment before an accurate diagnosis can be made.1

Your doctor may also refer you to different specialists to help diagnose your type of asthma including, immunologists, respiratory specialists, pulmonologists, and for children, paediatricians. They will assist your regular doctor to help you manage your asthma.
